Vocalist, Lisa Olivant and bassist/producer, George Lawton, first met as students and formed LILO while attending the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England.  At first, LILO developed a very band oriented sound.  But, LILO were forced to change their approach during a four-month study abroad trip to Los Angeles where the duo found they had to become self-sufficient in their music making without a band.  While in Los Angeles, new inspiration came from intensive coursework in songwriting and production that sent the group towards a more produced, track heavy sound in their performances.  Finding that the pendulum may have swung too far towards the electronic track based performances – LILO now strikes a new balance in their sound with their band mates.
