His aim is to change perspectives for the instrument, as he takes it apart, plays with his chin, and look, ma – no keys – just buttons. Whether solo, in an ensemble, or in one of his many duo collaborations, he has arranged and performed everything from Bach and Chopin, Sofia Gubaidalina and Krzysztof Penderecki, and living composers and rulebreakers like Terry Riley and Bang on a Can Fellows as well.\nIn 2022, he received a Fulbright scholarship, as the very first classical accordionist in history of New York University. Luckily, that brings him to New York a bunch, most recently performing with Kronos Quartet for their 50th Anniversary celebration at Carnegie Hall, AND in the WNYC/WQXR studios for New Sounds. Iwo has also been seen playing football (*aka soccer) and in both an accordion and violin duo and an accordion and harmonium duo. For this New Sounds, Iwo Jedynecki plays some of his own arrangements of the Philip Glass Piano Etudes on accordion, demonstrates playing in dropped tuning (\\m/), and showcases some of the more interesting sounds that this accordion can make in a work by fellow Polish composer and accordionist Paweł Janas. - Caryn Havlik\n\nProgram #4816, With Iwo Jedynecki (First aired 11/17/2023)\nARTIST: Vanessa WagnerWORK: Philip Glass: Piano Etude No. 9 [1:00]RECORDING: InlandSOURCE: InFinéINFO: https://vanessa-wagner.bandcamp.com/album/inland\nARTIST: Iwo Jedynecki, button accordionWORK: Philip Glass: Piano Etude No. 9 [2:33]RECORDING: Live at WNYC, Oct. 2023SOURCE: This performance not commercially available.INFO: philipglass.com | instagram.com/iwo.classicalaccordion\nARTIST: Iwo Jedynecki, button accordionWORK: Philip Glass: Piano Etude No. 2 [5:29]RECORDING: Live at WNYC, Oct. 2023SOURCE: This performance not commercially available.INFO: philipglass.com | instagram.com/iwo.classicalaccordion\nARTIST: Iwo Jedynecki, button accordionWORK: Paweł Janas: Sonata No. 1 \"Infinity\" [8:15]RECORDING: Live at WNYC, Oct. 2023SOURCE: This performance not commercially available.INFO: http://www.paweljanas.net | The work has been recorded by the composer on Requiem Records  \nARTIST: Iwo Jedynecki, button accordionWORK: Philip Glass: Piano Etude No. 3 [3:57]RECORDING: Live at WNYC, Oct. 2023SOURCE: This performance not commercially available.INFO: philipglass.com | instagram.com/iwo.classicalaccordion\nARTIST: Astor PiazzollaWORK: Astor Piazzola: Mumuki [9:46]RECORDING: Tango: Zero HourSOURCE: IRS #42138, American ClaveINFO: Available at At Amazon.com\n "}
