Also, hear the late Peter Schickele’s setting of e.e. cummings’ text, as sung by Joan Baez.\nHear music from vocalist/composer Caroline Shaw and the musicians of So Percussion from their collaborative album Let the Soil Play Its Simple Part. On it, Caroline Shaw sets the text from the folk hymn “I'll Fly Away” to an electric drone, tolling piano and an ebow inside the piano. Then, chamber music meets folk music in “Song 44” from Irish “supergroup” The Gloaming – comprised of gifted Irish fiddler Martin Hayes, the late guitarist Dennis Cahill, Irish master of the Norwegian hardanger fiddle Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh, sean-nós master singer Iarla Ó Lionáird, and pianist Thomas Bartlett (aka Doveman). And folk music meets the sounds of Indian classical music in the collaborative trio of James Yorkston, Jon Thorne, and Suhail Yusuf Khan. Their hybrid sounds feature Khan on sarangi (a box-shaped cello from India), Thorne on double bass, and Yorkston principally on guitar. That, and more. - Caryn Havlik\nProgram #4845, Art/Folk Songs (First aired 2/9/2024)\nARTIST: Spell SongsWORK: Bird of the Blizzard [1:13]RECORDING: Spell Songs II Let The Light InSOURCE: Quercus RecordsINFO: https://www.thelostwords.org/spell-songs\nARTIST: Rhiannon Giddens and Francesco TurrisiWORK: Black Swan [4:18]RECORDING: there is no OtherSOURCE: Nonesuch RecordsINFO: nonesuch.com\nARTIST: Joan Baez/Peter SchickeleWORK: All In Green Went My Love Riding [3:29]RECORDING: Baptism: A Journey Through Our TimeSOURCE: Vanguard StudiosINFO: Available at AppleMusic, Amazon.com, YouTube, Spotify  \nARTIST: Spell SongsWORK: Bird of the Blizzard [4:34]RECORDING: Spell Songs II Let The Light InSOURCE: Quercus RecordsINFO: https://www.thelostwords.org/spell-songs\nARTIST: Steeleye Span ft.
